im currently dealing with a 2013 brz

car came to me with the direct injectors not turning on at idle causing the car to die when coming to a stop and making for a rough idle. or you can rev the car up and when it drops back down to a normal idle it doesn't catch and idle it drops and dies.

now I have started my own tune on the car working from other roms I have built for brzs that are turbo charged with almost identical intake systems and set ups. every other brz or 86 I have put these files onto have worked just fine with minimal adjustments.

I put the tune into the car I'm currently working on and at first I could get the DI injector to come on at idle after blipping the throttle. car ran fine no idle issue or dying issue.

went and made an adjustment to the maf sensor, now no DI injector at idle. they turn on with a lil throttle but turn off when no throttle is there making the car die.

any thoughts on this, im starting to believe im having an ECU issue

I have attached my tune file and some log files bellow if anyone can help me out or see what I screwed up that would be highly appreciated

Bad high pressure pump perhaps?

I was thinking the same for a min but the DI Injectors turn on with a lil throttle

The di pump is driven by the cam shaft. It might work at elevated rpm but not at idle. Just a thought. Is it hitting the rail pressure target?

It bounces back and forth at first and the levels out at around 4

are there any check engine lights? Or have you tuned all the codes off?

With a stock calibration the ECU will actually change between PI and DI injectors depending on a range of parameters so on face value that isn't necessarily worrying. Of course however you shouldn't be having the engine stall or die. I'd also suggest checking for any fault codes as a first step. Something is definitely strange with this situation. What hardware modifications have been made to the engine/car?

No codes on the car. And the car is fitted with a turbo, exhaust, 1050x injectors. Used to be on e85 a while back but was switched back from that a long time ago. Delicious tuning has been dealing with this car for a while and now it has come to me.

I think it through a code last night for P013E sensor delayed response - rich to lean (bank 1 sensor 2)

I

well the E85 definitely didn't help the life of the pump

I'm going with bad pump.

And now the DI injectors are running just fine right now cold start and idle. This thing is weird I swear it must be that pump going bad. If it starts to give me crap again I'm gonna change but seems to be good right now.

How long does it take for these ECUs to re learn what you put in. I feel like this one takes a minute to register what I do. Ok more than a minute like 20 minutes of running at idle

If I turn the car off it goes back to PI injector at idle until I blip the throttle and then it goes back to DI and idles fine.

Guess we may try to replace the pump. I just feel like it may be in the tune or ECU because I do get it to idle with just DI after hitting the throttle now.

The DI pumps used in the FA20 are compatible with E85 and M15, so this will not have damaged it as long as there was no contamination of the fuel with water that sat in the pump and caused corrosion. Normally when this happens, the pump doesn't work at all.

So the DI injectors work at start up now I have them turning on with cold start and when the car is warming up. They run until the car has been driven for a while and is pretty hot, they shut down and wont work at all when hot. And makes the car die and for hard cranking. I'm not sure what is going on.
