So my boss’ race car, has a stand alone motec. We were on the topic of tuning and I was explaining about lambda tuning vs afr tuning and how much simpler and faster tuning by lambda is.
He then said well in my civic, I’m running methonal and the only way to tune that is by exhaust gas temperatures. That since it’s stoich is so low, a wide band would not be able to read it even in lambda.
Just curious to see if this is 100% true or if switching to lambda style tuning can still tune it?
Thank you for your help.

Motec's own product guides mention using a Bosch LSU 4.9 wideband sensor for Methanol. See attached, page 1 and page 3.
Thanks for the help. I believe it. My boss doesn’t believe it. So oh well. I’ll just have to build something my self and use pure methonal and then show him eventually. Thanks for your help boss, it’s much appreciated
Probably not worth arguing with a guy who signs your paychecks and is convinced he's right.
